Overview
In COVID time, the creek has overgrown, there is a tour that is comparable, please inform.
Departure from the city is per car and we start with nice ride to the former plantation Alkmaar.
We cross the Wijdenbosch bridge and can already acclimatize to the Commewijne district.
From Alkmaar departure is per boat and we get ready for a nice trip on the Commewijne river. I
n about 50 minutes we reach to the old plantation Reynsdorp, also known as Bakkie.
We take a walk on Bakkie where a botanical garden is planted. V
Interesting plants connected to the past can be found here eg cotton, coffee and sugar cane.
Various herbs and medicinal plants have also been planted, the guide can tell a lot about these too.
We also visit the museum at Bakkie.
After that we visit the state-owned Alliance plantation.
This plantation was created by combining the Sporksgift and Lodewijksburg plantations.
We take a walk past the old director’s house and the housing of the contractors.
One of the highlights of the day is the boat trip through the Warappa Creek.
This creek was excavated about 10 years ago.
We pass through tunnels of the overhanging trees with continuously changing vegetation.
There are several stops along the way, such as at the sugar factory with machines from 1830, the remains of a sugar cane press, steam engines and steam boilers.
And also many beautiful viewpoints along the route.

- Due to the tide change, this trip has no fixed departure time. The time of departure is between 05:00 and 10:00 AM
- Lunch will be taken at Bakkie or Alliance depending on the time of departure.
