By car we depart from Paramaribo to the Amerindian village of Powakka where we will make our first stop, do a little tour and visit the local school (weekdays).
We then continue to plantation Ayo where we will have a look around and from here we set for the Jewish Savannah.
We have lunch there and receive a detailed explanation from the guide about this place and its history and various remains there are to see.
You can also take a dip in the Suriname River here. You will be back in town before 6 pm.
The Jewish Savannah was the largest Jewish settlement in this hemisphere in the 17th century, and the significance of this on Suriname and its population is very interesting.
The influence of this continues to be visible up until this day.
