About the resort
There already were accommodations on Bigi Pan (which we visit during the regular Nickerie and Bigi Pan 2 day tour).
The owner of Anaula Nature Resort has built a new and bigger accommodation on the water, with a high luxury standard.
The resort consists of 16 detached lodges, a restaurant and a lobby.
The lodges (50m2) have a spacious balcony, with view over the lake.
Each lodge has its own bathroom and toilet facilities.
Fun fact: viewed from above the resort has the shape of a “tilapia”, a common fish species in Bigi Pan.
Bigi Pan
Bigi Pan is a nature reserve spanning a land area of 68,000 hectares and a simular size of seawater.
The area consists of swamps, mangrove forests and lagoons.
Birds are abundent, the birdwatcher will enjoy himself here, but there is a lot more flora and fauna.
72 bird species reside permanently in the reserve and about 50 migratory birds come to Bigi Pan every year (the Flamengo is the most famous example).
